The suspected gunman in an apparent murder-suicide that left four people dead in Queens has now been identified.
Two women, a man and a young boy were all found dead with gunshot wounds Monday night in an apartment building located at 23-07 30th Drive in Astoria.
The suspected gunman's father showed up at the scene Tuesday morning.
He was too upset to talk to NY1 on camera but did confirm his son's name was James Shields.
He was in a tense custody battle over his son, Jimmy.
Neighbors say the incident is deeply disturbing.
"I've been around here 60 years and it's always been good, but lately, the past few years it's been going downhill. We need more protection around here," said one neighbor.
Police say a gun was recovered at the scene.
