NEW YORK - Police are investigating the alleged burglary inside the building next door to the deadly fire in Harlem that claimed the life of a city firefighter last week.
The fire broke out early Friday morning at 773 St. Nicholas Avenue, but 771 St. Nicholas Avenue was evacuated as well.
Tenants there say they were burglarized of jewelry, clothing, and cash totalling more than $26,000.
Sources tell NY1 the burglars are believed to be other tenants or building contractors.
Officers are posted in front of both locations, so anyone who entered the buildings already had access and couldn't have just come off the street.
