A second Brooklyn business has decided not to host a National Rifle Association fundraiser.
Grand Prospect Hall, which is known for its catchphrase "We make your dreams come true," was scheduled to host the fundraiser, but after backlash from the community, owner Michael Halkias said he was canceling it during a live interview on NY1.
"I want our community here in Park Slope to be happy. Finally, I managed to speak to the people that I’m contracted with, the NRA people, and they understand," Halkias said. "No NRA fundraiser here, and I want to thank everybody for being able to communicate with Prospect Hall what their pain is. So I relieve them from their pain."
Grand Prospect Hall is the second business to cancel the event. Gargiulo's Restaurant was originally supposed to host the fundraiser in April, but earlier this month, the restaurant announced it was calling it off after elected officials and community members pressured them to cancel.
