A man was arrested and charged this week with public lewdness on Roosevelt Island after a series of complaints from residents last year.

40-year-old David Thorpe was charged with two counts of public lewdness.

The arrest comes as Roosevelt Island's private security force faced pressure over three unresolved incidents on the island since last August.

Residents held a protest earlier this month to demand action from the public safety department.

The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
