Online ordering is re-ordering traffic flow in the city, and that causes major congestion.

The rise in e-commerce means freight delivery drivers now deliver 85 percent of their merchandise to residential buildings.

And city data shows home deliveries have surged 30 percent in the last five years.

One of the big problems is that most residential buildings don't have loading zones, forcing delivery trucks to double park.

"I can double park for half hour and if you just miss you'll be sitting there for a half an hour just waiting and if you're in a rush that could be a problem and I understand it. I appologize but there's nothing you can do about it," saidd one truck driver.

The city is looking to update designated truck routes and expand a pilot program encouraging businesses to accept more deliveries overnight.
