More metal barriers may be set up around the city to help protect New Yorkers from possible terrorist attacks.
The city council's transportation committee is voting on the issue this morning.
It is part of the Pedestrian Safety Bollards Report.
The bill would add these metal barricades, known as bollards, in front of schools, plazas, and busy sidewalks and streets.
Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez introduced the legislation after the Halloween terror attack — where a truck plowed through pedestrians along the Hudson River bike path.
Eight people were killed and several others injured.
The suspected driver Sayfullo Saipov has pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges.
He's due back in court next month.
