A new law that is aimed at tracking down hit-and-run drivers takes effect Saturday.
The hit-and-run alert system works like an Amber Alert, notifying New Yorkers about the make, model, color, and license plate of the car in question.
Advocates say the alerts will help police track down guilty drivers more quickly.
The law is named after Mega 97.9 FM radio DJ Jinx Paul, who died last December after a 28-year-old man, Kevin Ozorio, ran him down in Brooklyn, according to police.
