A string of manhole explosions rocked a street in Queens on Monday afternoon.
Officials said cable burnout around 2 p.m. on Atlantic Ave. and 84th St. in Woodhaven started the fire.
Firefighters were called shortly before 3 p.m. and arrived to see smoke rising from several manholes, the fire department said.
"I was sitting upstairs in my house and I heard a loud boom and it shook the house," one resident said, describing the moment the blasts went off.
"I was like, 'What the heck is that?' And I came outside, and it's been this ever since," he continued, pointing to the smoke.
The fire department said no one was hurt.
Con Edison said there will be some power outages while it works on the cable. It is not clear when power will be restored.
