NEW YORK - Hillary Clinton on Friday gave a glowing review of Mayor de Blasio.

She was on the Brian Lehrer Show as part of her book tour.

Clinton praised the mayor as a progressive influence on her presidential campaign.

De Blasio managed Clinton's successful Senate run back in 2000.

She singled out one particular achievement of the mayor's during the interview.

"Bill's work on universal pre-school was especially important to me and I strongly supported it when he was advocating for it. And now he has four more years to continue to implement policies in New York that hopefully can be models for the rest of the country," Clinton said.

Clinton had no comment on former Congressman Anthony Weiner who will be sentenced on Monday for sexting an underage girl.

His wife Huma Abedin is a close friend of Clinton's.

The scandal managed to embroil Clinton's campaign last year, after federal investigators opted to open the long-dormant probe into her private e-mail server because of connections to the Weiner investigation.
