NEW YORK - Wednesday marks 20 years since a landmark incident of police brutality.
Back on August 9, 1997, Haitian immigrant Abner Louima was mistakenly accused of being involved with a fight at a nightclub in Flatbush.
Police officers with Brooklyn's 70th precinct beat and sexually assaulted him with a plunger at the station house.
Five officers were criminally investigated in connection with the attack, and two served jail time.
One is currently serving a 30-year sentence due to end in 2025.
