Construction work forces residents to evacuate a pair of buildings in East Harlem.
Crews responded to the scene at Lexington Avenue near 108th Street Monday morning after some bricks fell onto the street.
Sources at the Department of Buildings say excavation work being done at a site around the corner is to blame.
A stop work order was issued and sources say the company in charge of construction failed to safeguard neighboring properties.
Residents can go back into their homes once the crews backfill their excavation work.
