Former Congressman Michael Grimm has settled his debt with the government.
According to court documents, on June 20th, Grimm paid more than $138,000 in restitution related to tax fraud charges he pleaded guilty to in 2014.
He had the option of paying $1,000 a month as part of a payment plan but instead chose to make the payment in full.
This after the government claimed earlier this month he was late on a payment, a claim Grimm denies.
Grimm, who represented Staten Island in congress from 2011 to 2015 served 7 months in federal prison.
"I'm glad that this matter is finally behind me and the case is finally closed," Grimm said.
"I'm eager to start the next chapter of my life and I'm tremendously grateful for all the heartfelt support that my family has received from so many wonderful people. I am truly blessed."
