Something is fishy at a Brooklyn grocery store, and the state is warning people to stay away.
The Agriculture Department commissioner is advising consumers not to eat salted fish sold by Fifth Avenue Kings Fruit and Vegetable Corporation in Bay Ridge.
He says during a routine inspection, the fish were found to be uneviscerated, and they cannot determine the original source.
Uneviscerated fish do not have their insides cleaned out. When they are pre-packaged, uneviscerated fish are prohibited under New York State regulations.
Officials say they may be contaminated with spores that can cause a serious and potentially fatal food-borne illness.
