Sydney, Australia rang in the new year with a tribute to three of the many stars the world lost in 2016.
At 8 a.m. New York time, fireworks blasted off as David Bowie's "Space Oddity" played.
The light show also gave a nod to Gene Wilder and his iconic film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" with rainbow colors and a song from the movie.
And the legendary singer Prince was honored when the Sydney Harbour Bridge was lit up in his signature color purple.
