The city's housing authority makes the grade, at least according to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The department gave the New York City Housing Authority an "A" for its implementation of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program in 2015.

The program provides housing assistance to over 200,000 people.

HUD measured NYCHA's performance in 14 key areas.

NYCHA selects applicants from waiting lists and the extent to which the agency performs quality-control inspections.

NYCHA excelled in these areas, earning 135 out of a total 145 points and its first 'high performer' rating since 2004.

NYCHA says the rating underscores improvements in customer service for both Section 8 residents and property owners.
