A new mural in Hollis honors musicians who started kicking it right here in the borough.
Artist Jocelyn Goode and students from the CultureCocoa ArtHouse unveiled their latest piece inspired by A Tribe Called Quest Saturday on 200th Street and Hollis Avenue.
The 75-foot-long mural features portraits of the St. Albans natives and nods to their celebration of their roots and mind power.
This was just the latest of the ArtHouse's murals around the neighborhood that recognize Queens' contribution to hip-hop.
"This kind of artwork reminds people of where they're from and the other great people who come from where they're from, and it's sort of validating," said Jocelyn Morgan-Goode, the founder of Culture Cocoa Art House.
"I do think it's important so they can know the history or what's going on with our society," said Arlyn Delaoz, an art student.
Their next mural will honor Queens natives Salt-N-Pepa.
