NEW YORK - Police are investigating the death of a six-year-old boy in Harlem.

Investigators say Zymere Perkins was taken to the hospital by his mother just before 2:30 p.m. Monday after he was found unconscious at his family’s apartment at 606 West 135th Street.

Perkins had multiple bruises on his body and a head injury.

"It's shocking to the neighborhood. You know, I mean, everyone loves the children in the neighborhood of course. It's highly unfortunate. Nobody likes to lose any kids," said one neighbor.

Police say Perkins’ mother and her boyfriend are being questioned at this time but no one has been arrested.
