A new installation at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden features sculptures made up of locally sourced natural materials.

Canadian artist Shayne Dark spent the last month working as an artist in residence at the garden.

Groundskeepers helped him collect raw materials like twigs and logs to use in his pieces.

Dark says the environment where he's working plays a major role in shaping his work.

"I like the idea of actually taking the material and looking at the environment I find myself in and try to adapt it so it fits properly so that it, for example the piece behind me was at Miami Basel two years ago and we did it linear instead of vertical," Dark noted.
