The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says normal service has resumed on numbered subway lines after a power outage caused widespread delays Wednesday afternoon.

The agency said the power outage was due to an electrical issue at its rail control center. The MTA is now operating trains through a back up center and local towers. The agency says trains never stopped running.
An unrelated issue that occured around the same time caused delays on some lettered lines as well, the transit agency said.

The power outage happened just before 1:30 p.m.
