A solar-powered plane on a trip around the world made its latest stop in the city Saturday.
The Swiss-made Solar Impulse 2 soared over the Statue of Liberty early Saturday morning, as it swooped into the city after taking off Friday night from Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.
The plane was supposed to arrive Monday night, but thunderstorms delayed its arrival to JFK Airport.
Powered by 17,000 solar cells, the one-man plane first took off March 2015 on its globe-spanning quest to promote clean energy and innovation.
It has since made stops in places like China, Japan, as well as San Francisco and Phoenix.
