A New Dorp yoga studio opens its doors Thanksgiving morning to help the borough's hungry. 5 Boro Power Yoga hosted a donation class Thursday to support Project Hospitality's food pantry. Students brought in canned goods and non-perishable food as payment for the session. They also made monetary donations to support the cause.
"Today is about connection, community and gratitude and having a donation based practice to give back to our community, especially those who are less fortunate or don't actually even have a table to go to on Thanksgiving," said Karen Torrone who owns 5 Boro Power Yoga.
The studio is accepting donations until the end of the month during normal business hours. It's also collecting unwrapped toys for the holiday season.
