The de Blasio administration is spending a million dollars on a new ad campaign to promote the recently enacted rent freeze for rent-stabilized apartments.
The ads will begin appearing in subways and newspapers later this month, as well as online and radio.
They are meant to to raise awareness about the new rent guidelines that took effect this month and help prevent tenants from being overcharged.
City officials are also putting together a door-to-door campaign to notify 1-hundred-thousand tenants about the freeze.
The Rent Guidelines Board voted back in June for a freeze on one year rent stabilized leases.
A two percent increase was also agreed upon for tenants with two-year leases.
This comes as Mayor Bill de Blasio is set to host his first-ever town hall next week in Washington Heights.
He's expected to address rent security and protection for tenants.
