Livery cab drivers met with elected officials Monday to discuss their place in the city's ever-changing taxi industry.

Last week, Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a bill to examine the impact of the growing number of "for hire" vehicles on the roads.

The legislation looks at companies like Uber and Lyft, which lets people hail drivers with their mobile devices.

Livery drivers say they've been doing business here for a while, and say they have a right to continue, despite the rise of ride sharing services.

"I'm here for more than 20 years in this city, and another company comes and takes the whole business for the people who are supposed to be running the business, the taxi and the livery," says livery cab driver Luis Lirino.

City officials say they'll be hosting a forum in mid-September to discuss the taxi congestion in New York City's streets.

In four years, about 26,000 drivers have joined the city's 13,000 taxis on the road.
