Senator Charles Schumer is calling on online retailers to immediately stop selling iPhone cases made to look like a real gun.
New York's senior senator joined city police officers Tuesday to urge the federal government to ban the case now.
"If a police officer sees someone a kid or anybody else walking down the street like this, its going to create danger and thats why the NYPD has joined me today in asking the federal government to ban the iPhone gun grip case," Schumer said.
Currently, federal law requires novelty guns to have an orange dot at the end of a gun's barrel to identify it as harmless.
The phone cases do not have this feature which Schumer says could put lives at risk.
The NYPD has already voiced major concerns about the iPhone case.
