HALIFAX, NORTH CAROLINA - Dozens of people were injured when a New York-bound Amtrak train collided with a tractor-trailer in North Carolina Monday.
Investigators say the truck had stalled on the tracks in Halifax around noon.
The impact forced the train's engine onto its side, injuring several people.
A second train car transporting baggage also derailed.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says 40 passengers were taken to the hospital, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.
