Embattled Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez made a surprising return to Yankees training camp three days ahead of schedule and talked with the media Monday.
Rodriguez went through a workout at the Yankees Spring facility in Tampa.
The three-time MVP then told reporters he was embarrassed by his behavior over the past two years.
He also apologized to the league and to fans, but didn't say what he was apologizing for.
He says his focus is now on helping the team win this year.
"No mistake that I made has any good answer or no justification. It's unexplainable and that's on me. I've dug a big hole for myself and paid a price and I'm fortunate for a lot of people, especially the commissioner's office, the player's union, the Yankees to give me an opportunity to play the game that I love," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez was suspended for all of last year for using performance enhancing drugs.
He says he's now clean.
