Another candidate is officially challenging Eric Adams in next year’s Democratic mayoral primary.
State Sen. Zellnor Myrie, who was previously exploring a run, officially launched his campaign Tuesday.
The senator also unveiled an ambitious, new housing proposal that looks to build one million new homes across the five boroughs, or 70,000 homes per year.
Part of the proposal includes increasing allowable density in Midtown Manhattan, transforming underutilized land into new mixed-income neighborhoods, rezoning industrial areas and more.

Myrie, who currently represents Central Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Park Slope and Prospect Heights, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss his mayoral bid and more.
He is also the chair of the Elections Committee.
