"The Power Broker" by Robert Caro turned 50 this year. The book explored the impact of New York urban planner Robert Moses.

Now, a new book is picking up where "The Power Broker" left off, exploring how the city has struggled to take back its open spaces from vehicles.

It's titled, "Movement: New York's Long War to Take Back Its Streets from the Car," and was published by Fordham University Press.

It explores the 50 years before the pandemic, chronicling the 1970s into the 2010s and efforts to build more pedestrian spaces.

Nicole Gelinas, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a columnist at the New York Post, is the author of this book.

Gelinas sat down with Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk more about Moses' impact and the struggle to get back public space in the city.
