A new report by the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen and the criminal justice reform group Fair and Just Prosecution explores how major fossil fuel companies and their executives could be charged criminally for their role in causing climate-related extreme weather events.

The 50-page memo lays out a case for how New York prosecutors could pursue charges and the concept has been endorsed by a number of New York city and state elected officials.

Aaron Regunberg, the senior policy counsel with Public Citizen’s Climate Program, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss more.
