On Wednesday night, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump rallied on Long Island.

He was joined by numerous New York lawmakers, including Lee Zeldin, who ran a strong campaign for governor in 2022, and congressional members Anthony D’Esposito and Nicole Malliotakis.

While Trump is unlikely to win the deep blue state of New York, his supporters say he can help down-the-ballot congressional races, which could keep Republicans in control of the House.

However, Democrats protested Trump’s presence Wednesday.

Jay Jacobs, the chair of the New York state Democratic Party and chair of the Nassau County Democratic Party, joined NY1 political reporter Ayana Harry on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss more.
