Spectrum, along with AXS TV, awarded a guitar and other instruments to the New York City lab school for collaborative studies.

This donation is part of a financial grant to the public middle and high school in Chelsea, Manhattan in support of music education. It was made Wednesday at this year’s Audio Engineering Show inside the Jacob Javits Convention Center, where the John Lennon educational tour bus was on display, on a very special day.

“It happens to be John Lennon’s birthday. In celebration of that, we are bringing students from New York City public schools on board to this incredible mobile recording studio that features the latest in audio and video technology,” Brian Rothschild, executive director of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, said. “The purpose of the bus and the purpose of this project is to inspire the next generation to be creative, to use their skills to make the world a better place. And to also introduce them to career paths in allied industries: in audio, in video, in broadcast technologies, and that’s who they are meeting here today. They are meeting some of the leaders in those fields, often times learning about career paths they did not know existed.”

“I think it’s so important for kids to have access to music education, and know that they can play music their whole lives, and it can be something that gives them purpose. And it’s a vehicle to spread love around the universe, just the way John Lennon did,” actor Ansel Elgort said.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus travels around the country inspiring kids who love creating music. It’s sponsored by Spectrum and AXS TV.
