The school day is about to get a bit shorter for some students in the city.
Officials from Success Academy Charter Schools say starting next school year, students in elementary and middle school will be dismissed 45 minutes early.
A representative tells NY1 many of the families and teachers felt the school day was too long.
The changes will give students more time to participate in clubs, sports and other programs.
In addition, educators will get more time to recharge.
Elementary school will begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m.
On Wednesdays, students will continue to be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.
Middle school will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with early dismissal on Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
The high school schedule will remain the same.
