Community members are making sure honoring Veterans is not just a once a year event.
Staten Island real estate developer, the Nicotra Group, hosted their 18th annual Veteran's Day event in Bloomfield.
After seeing a decline in attendance over the years, the event has been given an added boost with younger generations paying tribute to Veterans, including the Tottenville high school choir and Troop 37 of the Boy Scouts.
Mary McLoone, a veteran we spoke to, hopes younger generations continue to remember what they have sacrificed.
"Veteran's Day is truly a time to say thank you for what you did for my country," she says.
The Nicotra's Plaza is also home to a beloved patriotic statue honoring World War 2 Veteran Michael Barletto.
