Canadian Cruises Offer Prime Opportunity To View Fall Foliage
August 11, 2008

When summer unofficially bows out at the end of August, New York-based cruise ships turn their bows toward Canada for a spate of fall foliage voyages. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed the following Travel with Val report.

Whether you're looking to bid summer adieu with a bang on a party boat, or tastefully toast its departure with a voyage on a sophisticated ship, there is a cruise with your name on it.

Sailing from the West Side Passenger Ship Terminal, you can board ships from four different cruise lines on six, seven, ten and 11-day voyages on itineraries with ports ranging from New England to Atlantic Canada.

In the weeklong range or longer, Carnival's Victory and three of Norwegian Cruise Lines ships do roundtrip cruises, while Holland America's first Signature Class ship, the Eurodam, makes its New York debut with 10 day one-way trips to Quebec City. The Eurodam is offering private cabanas and specially-configured spa staterooms.

For perhaps the most refined experience at sea on a smaller ship, the Crystal Symphony heads from New York north visiting several breath-of-fresh-air ports before ending in Montreal. From Bayonne, New Jersey, Celebrity's Constellation sails 12- and 13-night cruises on the Atlantic Canada run.

And not to be left out, Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas features nine-night cruises. The later you sail in September, and the further north you go, the better the chances of finding yourself in a prime leaf-peeping position.

Now here's a D'Elia's Deal you don't want to miss for the biggest bargains afloat. Carnival's five and seven-day sailings from New York to Canada offer rates ranging from $519 to $549 per person, double occupancy. For more information, go to www.carnival.com.
