STOKES COUNTY -- Stokes County authorities are investigating after someone shot four people to death on Wednesday. They were found at a home on Ralph Boyles Road near King.

Investigators say the call came in about 11:50 a.m. from a grandparent of the victims. The victims have been identified as Coleton Tarpley, 35; Amanda Tarpley, 34; Charlie, 6; and Colton, 9.

Investigators say the children had an early dismissal which prompted the grandparents to go over to the house. When they arrived they saw the vehicles in the driveway, so they knocked on the door.

The grandfather was able to go inside. That is where he called 911.

Police arrived and found the four victims with gunshot wounds.

Sheriff Mike Marshall says it appears to be a murder-sucide.

There’s no word yet on a motive.
