The state law that aims to keep drivers' eyes on the road and hands on the wheel takes effect tomorrow.
The new law bans drivers from texting, checking e-mail or surfing the web, or using laptops and other handheld devices.
Drivers caught breaking the law will face fines of up to $150, but only if they are pulled over for another violation.
State officials say the ban is aimed at eliminating distractions and preventing accidents.
Drivers may still use hands-free phones and GPS devices.
