Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney's daughter hopes to run in the New York City Marathon in honor of her late father.
Virginia Maloney is awaiting approval from the New York Road Runners so she can participate in this Sunday's 26.2 mile race in place of the late Clifton Maloney.
The Manhattan-Queens congresswoman, seen above, is cheering her daughter on.
"She has asked to get her father's number from the marathon so that she can complete the race for her father. Clift ran 20 marathons and the marathon is very much about passions and personal bests and doing the best job that you can. And she wants very much to complete the race for him."
Clifton Maloney, an investment banker and avid runner, died unexpectedly at age 71 last month on a mountain-climbing expedition in the Himalayas.
Last year, he finished the marathon in three hours and 58 minutes.
