A packed house was in a “New York State of Mind” Wednesday night at Shea Stadium.

Billy Joel performed the first of his two concerts scheduled for this week at the home of the Mets.

Dubbed the “Last Play at Shea,” Joel was originally scheduled to play only one show, but added the second performance after tickets sold out in under an hour.

The "Piano Man" joins an impressive list of artists to perform on the field throughout the stadium’s history, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Police, Eric Clapton, Elton John and the Beatles.

Joel plans to rock Shea one more time on Friday. It will be the final concert at the stadium before the Mets go "Movin' Out" to Citi Field next year.
