Four more city schools are getting word they will be shut down due to poor performance.
This comes one week after three other schools received similar notice.
P.S. 150 Christopher and the Agnes Y. Humphrey School for Leadership in Brooklyn, M.S. 399 in the Bronx, and M.S. 321 Minerva in Manhattan will all be gradually shut down. All received a D or an F on city evaluations.
The M.S. 321 community said it was shocked by the news.
"I'm really surprised that they're closing it because I have a little sister in P.S. 8 now and she was supposed to be coming here next year and it's really surprising," said Anneris Fernandez, a former M.S. 321 student. "I went to this school and I don't know what to say."
"I feel bad, but my daughter she has to continue in school, so we got to go get another school," said M.S. 321 parent Alejandro Hereder.
None of the schools will be accepting new students, although often the school buildings will be used again with new schools – meaning different teachers and students.
Agnes Humphrey is set to close its elementary and high school programs in June. Seventh and 8th grade students will be allowed to finish over the next two years.
Students at M.S. 399 in Fordham and M.S. 321 in Washington Heights will be allowed to finish before the school closes.
