New Jersey police are holding a registered sex offender suspected in the disappearance of a Brooklyn woman on $100,000 bail Tuesday night.

Authorities in Paramus, N.J. charged Michael Mele, 23, with public place and exposing himself to a child, and was being held Tuesday night in Orange County on probation violations.

Mele has previous convictions for forcible touching.

He is also a prime suspect in the disappearance of 25-year-old Laura Garza of Brooklyn.

The two were seen leaving the club Marquee in Chelsea last week.

State police were searching Mele's Orange County home for clues and combed Route 84 looking for signs of Garza. They say it is an obvious route Mele might have taken.

Mele has not been charged in Garza's disappearance, but police say he has a history of victimizing women.
