The Giants knew they'd be without receiver Plaxico Burress in Washington, D.C. Sunday due to a bad hamstring, but now Burress has to deal with a gunshot wound.
The franchise said Burress was involved in an apparent accidental shooting Friday night.
According to ESPN.com, it took place at a Manhattan night club called The Latin Quarter and, according to FoxSports.com, Burress shot himself.
The Giants are not commenting on the details, however the club says Burress was released from a hospital in this city Saturday afternoon and the team has been in touch with NFL security.
Burress has had a troubled season since catching the game-winning pass in the Super Bowl last February.
He was suspended and fined by the Giants last month for missing a team meeting and was also fined by the league for his conduct during a game.
