New Yorkers will soon be able to sharpen their skates and glide on ice right next to a building where generations have sharpened their minds.
The Museum of Natural History announced plans today to open a 12,000 square foot ice skating rink behind its location on Central Park West.
The rink will be bigger than the legendary Rockefeller Center rink, but smaller than the Wollman rink in Central Park.
The rink will be located on Arthur Ross Terrace, right next to Theodore Roosevelt Park.
Plans call for the rink to open next month.
Skaters can come during the fall and winter and will be able to stay till late at night.
The rink will use an artificial surface that does not melt and will not require refrigeration or maintenance.
