New York takes center stage under the tents at Bryant Park as two fashion giants turn to the city for inspiration. NY1's Jill Scott filed the following report. They say the streets of New York are a runway and the area near the catwalk should be called Michael Kors Way. His timeless Fall 2009 collection pays homage to the Big Apple.
"It's a very New York collection, very urban and ultimately my inspiration are the fabulous men and women who wear my clothes and really solving the problem or conundrum of getting dressed, looking great, feeling sexy and finding something that you will hold on to for a while, not just for one season," said Kors.
This season, you can take your pick because the entire collection is very ready to wear.
Clean lines, nipped waists and dramatic necklines -- fabulous looks that are classic Kors. Dramatic dresses, sleek suits and terrific trenches that are ultra urban chic.
Jet black, grey and classy camels mix with neons so bright you'll swear you're in Times Square.
"I absolutely loved it. I am a huge fan of Michael Kors. I was blown away by all the leather and the 80s neon colors I just loved it. It had a weighted vibe but that fanciful fun that Michael brings in that classical sense," said Actress Jane Krakowski.
Designer Tommy Hilfiger was also in a New York state of mind. For his fall collection he gives his all-American look a New York twist.
"The fall collection is our 5th Avenue collection. I wanted to develop a collection that would be a collection onto itself but would also complement all our casual wear so it will resonate worldwide, but its inspired by sensibility and fashionability as they meet," said Hilfiger.
This season is all about clothes that are fashionable but attainable. Pieces that mix well into any wardrobe.
Camels, khakis and nautical navys offset pops of pink in silhouettes that mix refined with rebellious.
From crisp white shirts to a luxe tux, this season takes the basics to whole a new level and easily translates from the runway to the real world.
