Yeohlee's and Derek Lam's fall collections offer two different takes on what women want. NY1's Cheryl Wills filed the following report. This season, Yeohlee's art imitates life. Her Fall 2009 collection draws on the principle of economy in design. In fact, the 23 looks she created were produced without wasting a scrap of material.
"What I tried to do is with every yard of fabric that I used, I tried to maximize the use of it completely so that there's not even a scrap like no scrap for a swatch. So every inch, every square inch is used up," said Yeohlee.
Who knew making the most of what you've got could be this glamorous?
Speaking of glamour, Derek Lam's collection is all about fur, shine and layering.
The designer says snuggling up in something luxurious never goes out of style.
"For women out there, it's about being uninhibited about playing with texture and mixing it up," said Lam.
His mix of jersey, suede, fur and sequins looks like a perfect recipe for fall.
