Among the best of the best of American designers is Narciso Rodriguez, a shy and modest man who creates intricately-constructed masterpieces of contemporary fashion.
This season, his eye-popping color, form-fitting dresses, lace, cutouts and skinny pant suits have an upbeat feel.
"I think this collection really reflects my state of mind," said Rodriguez. "I just want to see brighter, more hopeful things. Better, more happier times."
The designer had some fun with camouflage-clad helmet heads and body-hugging, form-fitting dresses. The metallic fabrics and body armor sparkled on the runway.
Whipple: What are we going to see on the runway this season?
Rodriguez: I think a little bit more color for me than usual. Neon, which was fun to work with, but neon redux not obvious. I love the audacity of color when it's really bold and pure."
Rodriguez's hope stretches to the highest office in the land.
"I'm so fortunate. I've dressed so many beautiful women, inspiring women, including Michelle Obama," said Rodriguez
As if there wasn't enough glamor on the front of the house with the Narciso Rodriguez show, there were little hidden lounges backstage where the celebrities hang out, like the W Lounge's VIP enclave, known as the Mercedes Benz Star Lounge.
