Designers Max Azria and Carolina Herrera made bold statements with their collections Monday under the tents at Bryant Park. NY1's Jill Scott filed the following report. The king of the bandage dress has unwrapped a new twist. For his Fall Herve Leger collection, designer Max Azria takes the look to the next level.
"See are going to see the evolution of Herve Leger, confirmation, urban jungle woman, a very modern, very secure. We call it urban jungle because its really very sexy and has this animal feel in the middle of that," said Azria.
In addition to a straight bandage wrap, for fall he offers a new sophistication that includes a combination of design techniques. Patchwork fabrics blend textures and tones, like snakeskin and leather, with intricate finishes that add that extra something special.
Come fall, he is also introducing square shoulders and necklines of every shape.
"It was just beyond. I don't have my composure just yet, I am just blown away. Just when I think their shows can't get better, they do. They top themselves," said Actress Sophia Bush.
At Fashion Week, it's not just the models who get all glammed up. At the Treseme booth inside the tents, anyone can get their hair done.
Next up, Carolina Herrera.
At this show, the mood was all about feeling confident and empowered.
"I think fashion has to be very powerful, especially in the times of crisis, economic crisis and crisis everywhere. So this collection is a confident collection for this time," said Herrera.
Herrera's Fall 2009 collection features a dynamic grouping made up of rich colors and slim silhouettes. Long hemlines and lean trousers are mixed with layered fabrics like textured silk, suede and shimmery jacquard. Ornamental finishes that are copper and courageous top it off.
This fall, the Herrera woman is sure to make a statement -- one that says bold is beautiful.
