Designers Charlotte Ronson and Yigal Azrouel were among some of the highlights Saturday at Bryant Park. NY1's Jill Scott filed the following report.A little dark, a little daring with deco details. For Fall 2009, designer Charlotte Ronson takes us back to the wartime 1930's -- when many were looking for longevity in fashion.
"It's that deco girl, going through and reappropriating her wardrobe and her lifestyle and her world for some reasons. Back then, during those times, those fabric fashions and things. So it's about reappropriating or borrowing your boyfriend's, officer's jacket. Wearing a little more masculine bodies," said Ronson.
The show itself was a family affair, sister Samantha spinning in the DJ booth while sister Annabelle Dexter Jones was the model sibling, strutting her stuff on the catwalk in clothes she says she can wear anywhere.
"I love that a lot of the pieces I can wear during the day walking around or going to lunch going to class or work. Or I could switch it up with something else and wear it out at night," said Dexter Jones.
Over at Yugal Azrouel it was all about rock and roll. He says during dark times you need to let loose and have fun.
And this season the looks will certainly lift your spirits. Sexy bold silhouettes and lean linear shapes mixed with geometric accents that will have you rocking the red carpet.
From stove pipe pants with cozy coats to that hot little number that is anything but another little black dress.
"I feel like it's a time to celebrate and what I am doing here is every piece is very special so I feel like the woman that wants to spend her money will get something that is worth the money, and not like buying a lot of pieces but buying special," said Azrouel.
This season, we see a dark palette and mix of texture -- jacquard and jersey, foxy fur and luxe leather -- clothes that will definitely have you feeling like a million bucks in any economy.
