Broadway's biggest stars kicked off a new season on the Great White Way Sunday with a showcase of their biggest song and dance numbers in Times Square.
The 17th annual Broadway on Broadway concert was hosted by "Spamalot"'s Drew Lachey, and featured performances from a number of shows including "Legally Blonde," "Xanadu," and "Grease."
"There's productions that have not been seen anywhere in New York before: 'Billy Elliot,' '13,' 'Pure Country' and 'White Christmas,'" said Tim Tompkins, president of Times Square Alliance, which sponsors the performances. "And one of the shows that's being performed in addition has only been in previews for a few weeks. So it's a great chance to see all the Broadway shows, just about all the Broadway shows and musicals, and make a decision about what tickets you want to buy."
More than 50,000 people were expected at the event.
