It looks like local day care centers will also be taking a hit as part of the city's belt-tightening measures.
Administration for Children's Services Commissioner John Mattingly said yesterday the city will be forced to cut aid to 21 day care centers.
He stressed the cuts will be directed towards centers that have had consistent vacancies.
Mattingly said if the reductions are not made, the city might be forced to begin closing centers.
ACS officials say they must cut $62 million from their budget.
Programs for school-age children are also expected to be affected.
