Bullet Fragment Injures Police Officer On Upper East Side

By: NY1 News

A city police officer was treated for minor injuries Wednesday night after responding to a call on the Upper East Side.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. inside a city housing building on 1st Avenue at 94th Street.

Police officials say when officers arrived, a woman inside an 11th floor apartment opened the door, setting a pit bull loose. Police officers then fired an unknown number of shots at the dog, causing bullet fragments to hit the woman in the hand and one of the officers in the face.

The officer and woman were both transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation is now underway.
